Allow me to introduce you to Jesse Bunnell, Assistant Manager of Austin’s Pizza Four Points. Like many AP employees, Jesse has worked his way up, and is one of the most calming and laid back guys you’ll ever meet.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Anaheim, CA, but I was living in Davis, CA when I moved to Austin.

How did you get here?

A really close friend had a parent pass away, and they needed someone like family here to be around him. At the time I was looking to move away from California, so I decided to go. Within two days of arriving in Austin, I was hired on as a cook at AP.

How did you get to be the Assistant Manager at Four Points?

Well I started as a cook, but within 3 months I was promoted to shift lead, then 8 months later I was promoted to Assistant Manager.

Jesse’s Work

Any interesting past jobs?

I’ve done a little bit of everything food industry. I was a Barista for a short period, a dishwasher, made sno-cones at an amusement park, as well as In-N-Out Burger. I also worked at a real nitty-gritty pizza shop. I can’t believe it’s still in business. Really gross. I had to take a pizza hiatus for a little bit after that.

Do you have any hobbies?

I draw and paint any chance I get. Mostly acrylic and watercolors. I’m also lethal with a Bic pen.

What do you enjoy about living in Austin?

Living in Northwest Austin is a lot different than where I grew up in California. The people are here are really friendly.

One time on my way to work, I had a pinch flat on my bike. A guy pulled over and offered to take me the rest of the way. My bike wouldn’t fit on his rack so I strong arm-ed it out the window. It was great.

Austin also just a great balance of city and nature. I really love it. There’s something for everybody.

What do you like most about Austin’s Pizza?

The harder you work for AP, the farther you go. There’s opportunity, and people notice when you work hard. Opportunities.

What’s your favorite pizza?

I’d have to say: Spinach, heavy garlic, light sauce, pepperoni, plus diced onions and bell peppers. When I want to feel it in the lower intestines, I go heavy on the Sriracha.

If you didn’t work for AP what would you be doing?

I think I’d be posted up somewhere as a street artist. I’d be perfectly happy kicking it on the corner selling my art.

What do you like about about your store?

We like to call our store “The Dual Mash-Core Processing Unit of Infinite Mashability.” It’s a weird bunch of guys that seemingly wouldn’t mesh but they do.  Everyone works hard, and we get along great.

Any special talents?

I’m double jointed. For real dude, I got flex.
